Spirit of Harmony – Saturday 22nd October 2016 7.30pm
On Saturday 22nd October, an appreciative audience enjoyed an evening of close harmony singing by The Spirit of Harmony Barbershop Chorus. Under the direction of Musical Director Sally McLean, the singers, in their striking red and black outfits (including shoes!), presented a varied programme including the two pieces that won them the silver medal in the recent International Chorus Competition in Cork, Ireland – ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and ‘Five foot two, eyes of blue’.
The Chorus, making its third visit to the Parish Church, really enjoyed performing in the reordered church where they said the acoustics were perfect for their singing. The audience expressed similar views, one taking the trouble to post praise for the venue (and the Concert) on an Otley Facebook site when she got home.
The evening was also a financial success, raising £870 for the Church Fabric Fund.
