Otley Baroque is delighted to welcome back the celebrated Ensemble Flauguissimo who had appeared in our very first concert in the Parish Church in 2018!
After busy & successful years of performing in several renowned music festivals around the UK including Brighton Early Music Festival, Flauguissimo just published their new album ‘To the Northern Star’ joined by a phenomenal soprano Emily Atkinson.
The album features chamber works and cantatas for flute and soprano by Johan Helmich Roman, who is known as ‘the father of Swedish classical music’ or ‘Swedish Handel’. In this concert, you will hear the best hits from the album, and Otley Baroque’s Asuka Sumi will join as a guest to play some trio sonata and violin sonata with the ensemble.
We are thankful to be back to our favourite venue, Otley Parish Church. The listeners will enjoy a fantastic acoustic in this historic church as well as free hot&cold drinks during the interval.
Tickets are available from the link above:
General Admission £12/Concession £10/Student £5/Pair £20 (plus small booking charge)
Their new CD will be available for the audience at a special price.

Music for Prayer
A charity concert supported by Otley Parish Church which includes unaccompanied solo works for violin and cello by J.S. Bach, D. Gabrielle, Biber and Vilsmayr, all performed by Asuka Sumi, baroque violin & Pablo Tejedor-Gutiérrez, baroque cello.
Concerning the current crisis in the world, we hope this concert to provoke ‘peace in us, peace to the world’.
We invited back Pablo Tejedor Gutiérrez, the cellist who displayed his exceptional musicality and technique at our last concert in January.
With Asuka Sumi on baroque violin, they each will perform unaccompanied solo works by J.S. Bach and his lesser-known contemporaries and also some duets together, through which they wish to provide meditative time and space for the listeners.
All the profits will go to support World Vision (www.worldvision.org.uk), the Christian charity which focuses on helping the most vulnerable children in poverty and dangerous areas.
There is no need to book in advance. Simply come and pay as you feel at the door (by cash or card, minimum £8).

This concert features three captivating choral works that traverse themes of reflection, adventure, and praise. Matthew Coleridge’s Requiem offers a modern yet timeless meditation on loss and peace, with its rich harmonies and serene beauty. Stanford’s Songs of the Fleet, a stirring maritime song cycle, celebrates the bravery of sailors and Britain’s naval heritage. Holst’s Short Festival Te Deum, composed for Westminster Cathedral, is a jubilant setting of the ancient hymn, combining clarity and grandeur in a short but powerful expression of faith and joy. We will be performing Peter Gosling’s piece Chevin, a highly original and energetic setting of a poem about the Otley Chevin by local poet Jeremy Pritlove. To round off the concert, we have delightful soloistic performances to entertain, including two baroque arias from St Cecilian Odes.
Tickets are £18 for adults and free for those under 18 years and full-time students. Tickets available at the link below or from Brown’s Gallery, Otley or The Grove Bookshop, Ilkley.
