Adrian Plass – Out of His Head – Wednesday 18 April 2018 7:15pm
Together with Searchlight Theatre Company – the brilliant David Robinson and Michael Taylor.
Adrian Plass is a well-known British author and speaker who writes primarily Christian humour, but also short stories, Bible Commentaries and novels with a more serious tone.
His most popular books are a series concerning The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass which is a humorous, fictional satire of Christian life and which has sold over a million copies worldwide.
The event was sponsored by World Vision and there was an appeal on their behalf before the interval.

Otley Parish Church Bells Rededication Service – Saturday January 6 2018 2:30pm
Before the service, there was ringing from 1.30pm, to which all ringers were welcome.
After the service refreshments were served in the parish room and the tower was open to visitors.
If the climb to the top of the tower was not one you relished you could still see the work that has been done, in the form of a video made by Simon Miles during the refurbishment. This was shown in the church before and after the service.

A sell-out concert! Award winning act at the BBC Folk Awards The Youngs Uns donned their festive jumpers for a lighthearted romp through Christmas past, from carols rooted deep in the soil of Britain’s ancient wassail traditions to original songs of seasonal cheer ….. and heartbreak.

Sacred Circle Dance – Tuesday 4 July 2017
A group of local circle dancers made a return visit to the church recently and were once again delighted with the beauty of the space and the warmth of the welcome they received. Joan Peart, who led the dancing, concluded the evening with a dance inspired by one of the stunning floral displays from the recent Flower Festival.

Following their acclaimed, sold out performance of Messiah last December, Otley Choral Society, joined by members of Ilkley Choral Society, performed their spring concert. The concert included two of Gabriel Faure’s most popular works – the famous Requiem and the hauntingly beautiful Cantique de Jean Racine. The programme also included Howard Goodall’s 2008 requiem, Eternal Light.

Slumdog Millionaire – Friday 24 February
Our Local to Global group presented a showing of this film to aid fundraising for local Leeds charity the Joanna Project and a similar charity Sahaara in Mumbai, India.

Otley Christmas Tree Festival 2016
Another well-attended and hugely successful event this year. Beautifully decorated Christmas trees, musical interludes, a warm and festive atmosphere – and money raised for charity too!

Victorian Fayre – Sunday 4th December 12noon – 6pm
Otley Parish Church Choir sang in Church; and, to help raise the profile of Fairtrade in the town, we ran a Fairtrade cafe in the Parish room throughout the afternoon.

The Forgiveness Project – 16th to 23rd November 2016
This week-long event attracted many people to come and explore this subject. Many people were moved by the stories that were told on the displays and some shared their thoughts in the comments book or took the opportunity to speak to members of the church team who were on hand. Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band 12th November 2016 7:30pm
The Brighouse and Rastrick Band is regarded by many as the best and most consistent ‘public subscription band’ in the world. In its time the majority of premier band championships have been held by ‘Briggus’ whilst the band has also attracted a formidable reputation for highly entertaining concerts for both the general public and brass band connoisseur. Otley Parish Church was delighted to welcome them to Otley.

Spirit of Harmony – Saturday 22nd October 2016 7.30pm
On Saturday 22nd October, an appreciative audience enjoyed an evening of close harmony singing by The Spirit of Harmony Barbershop Chorus. Under the direction of Musical Director Sally McLean, the singers, in their striking red and black outfits (including shoes!), presented a varied programme including the two pieces that won them the silver medal in the recent International Chorus Competition in Cork, Ireland – ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and ‘Five foot two, eyes of blue’.
The Chorus, making its third visit to the Parish Church, really enjoyed performing in the reordered church where they said the acoustics were perfect for their singing. The audience expressed similar views, one taking the trouble to post praise for the venue (and the Concert) on an Otley Facebook site when she got home.
The evening was also a financial success, raising £870 for the Church Fabric Fund.-
Astraluna Album Launch
Astraluna is a singer/songwriter from Otley. On 15th October she launched her debut album, “The Pass of Storms” here at Otley Parish Church with a special performance of songs from the album. For more details:- www.astralunamusic.com

Summer Sing – A Celebration of Local Choirs – Friday 15 July
Otley Parish Church hosted another superb musical event recently, raising over £1000 for charity. Summer Sing brought together 4 local choirs: Otley A Capella Choir, Good in Parts, Sally’s Army and Ilkley Moornotes, who entertained a packed church with a widely varied programme ranging from 1960s soul classics and traditional folk songs from around the world through to contemporary pop and rock songs. The event was the idea of Jen Birch from The Woolpack Studios in Otley, who was keen to give community choirs the opportunity to perform in public. Jen chose The Joanna Project to be the beneficiary of all profits from the event. The project works with vulnerable, hard to reach women. Further details:- www.joannaproject.co.uk
Healing the Earth with Sacred Circle Dance – Tuesday 5 July
Some 50 dancers from various local circle dance groups gathered to ‘Encircle the land with sacred circle dance’.
Otley Walking Festival – Saturday 25 June
Around 40 walkers gathered at OPC for the launch of the 2016 Otley Walking Festival and a new series of walks called The Welcome Way.
Harriet’s Fashion Show – Friday 17 June
A terrific evening raising money for, and awareness of, dementia – and bringing together local businesses to support the Otley Community.
Birthday Tea Fit For A Queen!
As part of our three days of celebration to mark The Queen’s 90th birthday the church held a special service at 4pm on Sunday 12th June followed by a birthday tea. A special cake was cut by three of our very own nonagenarians:- Maurice, Harold and Sheila!
The King’s Men – Choral Recital in aid of the RNLI
This sold-out concert was greatly enjoyed by all those who were fortunate enough to be there. Also, a magnificent £4515 was raised for this excellent charitable organisation. See pictures below:-
Jesus Christ Superstar
The first big entertainment event in the newly renovated church building was a huge huge success. All five performances were virtually sold-out for this superb production presented by Otley-based Futurist Productions.
