Christians from the churches in Otley meet on the first Saturday of each month. There is a simple breakfast of bread rolls and a hot drink followed by a few thoughts and shared prayer with a special focus on our town. The venue changes each month with a rota round the churches.
The Prayer Breakfast is hosted this month by the New Life Church and held at the Methodist Church (use the Walkergate entrance). All are welcome to take part in this expression of unity.

Thy Kingdom Come takes place for 10 days from Ascension Day to Pentecost Sunday – this year May 9th to 19th. It began in 2016 initiated by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. Since then it has become widely recognised and participation now includes those from many church backgrounds and organisations – and many countries of the world.
In Otley Parish Church there will be display boards with selected Thy Kingdom Come materials.
Please call in to the church to pray for a while or meet with others there. The church is open from about 9am to 5pm each day. Should there be an event in the church please respect that.
See www.thykingdomcome.global for details of this Worldwide initiative and many resources for all ages.
See https://otleyparishchurch.org/tkc-2024/ for resources focussing on Otley.
Special prayer for Thy Kingdom Come:
Almighty God, your ascended Son has sent us into the world to preach the good news of your kingdom: Inspire us with your Spirit and fill our hearts with the fire of your love, that all who hear your Word may be drawn to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Every Christian Aid Week, people across Britain and Ireland raise funds, act and pray for their global neighbours in a celebration of hope for a fairer world. This year’s appeal runs from 12-18 May and is focussing on the organisation’s work in Burundi, one of the most densely populated and poorest countries in Africa. Heavily reliant on agriculture, it’s also one of the least prepared to combat the effects of climate change, including droughts, floods and landslides. The global cost of living crisis has intensified the challenges: more than 70 per cent of the population live in poverty and more than half of children are chronically malnourished.
Giving envelopes are available at the back of our church – or you can use your own, but label them ‘Christian Aid Week’. Please pop them in the wall safe inside church, on the back wall.
Additionally, two of our church members are helping to raise money for Christian Aid:
Kate Hobson is undertaking the challenge of walking 70km (in addition to her normal walks) during May. See: https://fundraise.christianaid.org.uk/challenge-2024/crazy-kate-walks-70k-may for more detail and to donate.
Also, Eric Cairns will be Busking for Christian Aid in Otley Market Place on Friday 17th May at 10.30am. Do come along and support if you are able.
With your help, we can work towards a world where families can escape the trap of poverty and fulfil their ambitions. For more details and to give on-line, please see link below:
