Otley Choral Society are busy rehearsing for their performance of Handel’s Messiah, along with their sister choir, Ilkley Choral Society. The choirs will be accompanied by the excellent Yorkshire Chamber Ensemble, with soloists from the Royal Northern College. This year though, the choirs will be conducted and trained by the enthusiastic and dynamic choral conductor Tom Newall as Yonni Levy (Their usual conductor, has been offered a temporary contract working in Beverly Hills, USA!!) Tom is a very experienced conductor who has worked with the choirs before and whilst he is a Lancastrian he is looking forward to a true Yorkshire performance of such a special work.
Tickets (£15 for adults – students and children are free) have been selling fast and are available from Brown’s Gallery or from members of the choir.

As we seek to fulfil our church’s vision to be a place where everyone is welcome, we all encounter situations and people different to our ‘normal’. That’s good but it can often feel uncomfortable!
Please join us in the Parish Room on Wednesday 27th February at 8pm as we learn to equip ourselves for the joys and challenges ahead.

After a sell-out performance of Handel’s Messiah to a packed Otley Parish Church at Christmas, Otley Choral Society will perform a concert version of Purcell’s most famous work, the opera ‘Dido and Aeneas’ on Saturday 23rd March at 7:30pm. The piece includes many beautiful and melodic choruses and the end result should be something very special indeed. They will be joined by a bevy of talented, young soloists and a baroque orchestra for the performance which is being conducted by their Musical Director, Yonny Levi. The programme also includes a performance of Monteverdi’s ‘Ave Maris Stella’.
